Coastal Communities

We have worked with coastal communities as they play an important role in securing dune resilience in the long term. We have provided innovative education and learning opportunities to empower coastal communities, supplying knowledge needed to take ownership of dune systems and to create a deeper understanding of the connection between dune health and coastal community security.

The campaign has:
− Increased understanding of climate change causes, actions and future consequences.
− Improved knowledge of importance of dunes and management for resilience.
− Created a better connection between communities and the landscape and the value of dunes ecosystems.
− Improved understanding of mobile dunes and need for sustainability.

This activity was led by CPIE Val d'Authie, but all partners provided training for local communities.
